Objective

The College Tour by executive producers Lisa Hennessy (The Biggest Loser, World's Toughest Race, The Contender) and Alex Boylan (The Amazing Race, The Chef’s Table, Rach to the Rescue) was the result of their desire for a high-energy and visually engaging series that would allow audiences to virtually tour college campuses in a binge-able episodic format. After helping his niece wade through the mire of college selection, Alex was inspired to create a show that would allow students to tour colleges at broadcast-level quality, without the high costs and challenges of traveling mid-pandemic.

Adrenaline Films have been an incredible partner in the building of “The College Tour” franchise! With close to 100 episodes produced all across America, and hundreds more in our future, there is no better collaboration for this TV series!

As soon as we created “The College Tour” TV Series, I knew we needed a production machine that could handle the scale, professionalism, and trust to make it all work. Adrenaline Films was my first call and as always, they deliver like no one else in the business.

Solution

The College Tour pre-production model allows for remote pre-production across the country, onboarding university staff new to production and leveraging their knowledge to digitally scout locations. Directors of Photography developed a movement-driven format that revolved around walking interviews, with a small footprint gear package allowing for creative flexibility within budget constraints. Within four months, the series's production pace grew from one episode every two weeks to two episodes per week. A streamlined post workflow allows the post department to train editors on the show’s format while allowing each to experiment creatively.
